Long Point Waterfowlers' Association

Who We Are

The Long Point Waterfowlers' Association is dedicated to the conservation of waterfowl and wetlands in the crown marsh of Long Point Provincial Park and we are advocates for the preservation of public hunting throughout Ontario. As you know it's crucial to support organizations like OFAH and Long Point Waterfowlers' to ensure you have a voice in the conversation.

World class waterfowl hunting out of the Long Point Provincial Park, Ontario.

The public waterfowl unit in Long Point is operated out of the Long Point Provincial park located at 350 Erie Blvd, Port Rowan ON,N0E 1MO. The unit is open Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday.

You will find information about the unit here but nothing will substitute the real thing. We recommend to anyone interested in hunting Long Point to take a drive down to the point on a open day and talk to the guys at the office. There's usually local hunters around who you will get more information from than you will ever get from a screen.

How to Hunt the Long Point Management Unit

If you are interested in hunting the long point waterfowl management unit LPWMU here's a basic breakdown of how to get started.

The LPWMU is operated on a first come first served basis with a lineup system to allocate the approximate 40 hunting blinds and shooting points. Operated out of the Long Point Provincial Park located at 350 Erie Blvd Port Rowan Ontario.

The lineup is located in the day-use area of the provincial park.

You park your vehicle in the numbered lineup at the lowest available number. A licensed vehicle must be in the spot at all times to hold your pick. You or someone in your hunting party must remain in the park while holding a pick. Some people line up days in advance of the hunt date, so if you want one of the top blinds you will need to get in line early. There are usually spots available on the day of the hunt but again early is better. Hunting days are Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. The marsh is closed to hunting on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday to allow the birds to rest and reduce hunting pressure. At approximately 4:45 am unit staff will drive down the lineup and hand out cards that you will fill out with all appropriate information including a valid outdoor card with a small game license and migratory bird license. At that time you proceed to the unit office located at the maintenance building in the park. There you will be called to the window in the order of your number in line. Waterfowl unit staff will verify your license information and you will choose your spot. Most spots are boat-in only but there are walkouts and accessible blinds when water levels allow. Hunting is allowed during legal hunting hours. It is your responsibility to know and abide by the hunting regulations. Hunting laws are strictly enforced by local COs. At the end of the hunt, ALL hunters MUST return to the unit office to report and show the day's harvest.

There is also a reservation system that can be used any hunting day after the opener "no reservations opening day".

The reservation system works by filling out a reservation form (available at the unit office) a minimum of 2 weeks before your chosen hunting date. The reservation system is a random draw and you will be notified by email if successful in the draw for your chosen date. If successful you do not need to get in the lineup you just proceed to the unit office at 5 am the day of the hunt. There you will be given a card to fill out with the required information. The unit staff will call lineup #1 lineup #2 lineup #3 then reservation #1 lineup #4 reservation #2 and so on. There are up to 8 reservations available on any given hunting date.

The fee for hunting the waterfowl unit is $20 per day per hunter. You must also purchase a provincial park parking pass for the day or a season or fall pass. There is a sustaining membership available through the LPWA that allows you to hunt the entire season at a discounted rate. The hunting blinds are for a maximum of 2 hunters. Shooting points (hunt from your boat) are a maximum of 3 hunters. This is a basic breakdown of the unit operations but as I've said so many times nothing will substitute the real thing. Get down to the unit on an open day and talk to the guys at the office, there's usually local hunters around there that you will get more information than you will ever get from a screen.

Happy hunting see you in the marsh,
